“Xi Jinping did not want to meet with Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India.”

More likely that Mr. Xi is seeking to demonstrate to his “friend” his dissatisfaction with the “overly multi‑vector friendship.” In the current context, when D. Trump is seeking to destroy Iran — a real (albeit situational) ally of China — and is actively looking for ways to somehow “involve” Russia in resolving this problem, which is of utmost importance to the United States (even if only through making extremely broad and completely unfeasible promises), the Kremlin’s active стремление towards “American mediation” is objectively disadvantageous for China, which supports Iran in every way it can (within reason).
In the long term, Beijing rightly fears that if a “peace agreement” (which unequivocally signifies Russia’s strategic defeat) is nevertheless concluded under the “patronage” of the United States, then the “price” that the US will demand from Moscow “for the favor” will de facto be Moscow’s “return” under the US “umbrella.”

And this means (again, inevitably) The imminent transformation of the “pacified” Russia into Washington’s “satellite” SPECIFICALLY AGAINST CHINA — at present, the main and only competitor of the United States in the competition / struggle for global hegemony. Currently, Russia depends on China “more than in anything” — without Chinese imports, we (thanks to a quarter‑century‑long ideology of a “great energy power” that “doesn’t need to produce anything — we’ll buy everything!”) simply won’t be able to produce anything (or almost anything) now, including in the field of weapons, equipment, and ammunition.

Even a temporary cessation of trade with the PRC would mean the collapse of all our military (and not only military) production, trade, and the import of necessary goods, services, raw materials, etc. DUE TO OUR OWN EFFORTS (especially the “success” of our military actions against the so‑called “Ukraine”) we have found ourselves in almost complete economic isolation, and China is our only somewhat reliable “window to the outside world.”

And as long as the special military operation continues, there is no alternative to this situation, no matter how disadvantageous or inconvenient it may be for our economy and politics. Only a COMPLETE victory over the so‑called “Ukraine” will make it possible to PARTIALLY break free from dependence on access to the Chinese market, economic aid, and industrial potential. However, this is not expected in the near future (thanks to the “extraordinary” nature of our military and political leadership). (I would like to be wrong, but it’s “very unlikely”).

Even an unlikely “complete shift to the US camp” would not abolish sanctions, reparations, or the blockade for years and years (or even decades).

On the contrary, we would find ourselves even more dependent on the US than we are now on China (and by a much larger margin!) — since this dependence would be not only economic but also military‑political! Washington will be able to DIRECTLY ORDER Moscow to do absolutely anything it pleases (under this scenario, with 100 percent probability, even those “fig leaves” that will initially be used to cover up our surrender in the so‑called “Ukraine” will be revised and annulled — we will be stripped of “everything,” forced to “pay and repent,” and, most importantly, FORCED TO TURN AGAINST CHINA as a US satellite with no say in the matter).

Naturally, even a distant and unlikely (Although?!?) The possibility of such a “180‑degree turn” cannot please Beijing, nor can it be “arranged” in any way. China will not calmly observe such a “turn.” I believe that this is exactly what Mr. Xi is demonstrating — by “hinting” to his “Moscow friend” that further steps in this direction will not only “meet with no understanding” but will also be assessed accordingly by the Celestial Empire. And that in Beijing, the rulers are not so “flexible to the point of complete amorphousness” as to allow “multi‑vector allies” (the weakest in almost every respect and extremely dependent on their Chinese comrades) to “defect” to the enemy’s camp (and, incidentally, to our enemy as well!) without the most sensitive (for us) and negative consequences.

Furthermore, I dare to suggest that the person who was recently “courted at the highest level” (“almost as an equal”) The greatest geopolitical figure of our time has now (according to Chinese standards) “significantly lowered his status” by holding personal, direct negotiations with SOME relatives of the American president—relatives with whom, in China itself, no one even at the ministerial level would likely communicate, given their actual and formal status. Thus (after friendly meetings and negotiations with the ruler of the Celestial Empire himself!)

This concludes my letter. We’ll be monitoring the situation…
With respect and gratitude, sincerely appreciative of you, I. V. Girkin.
