In NYC ‘Gifted and Talented’ Program Is Canceled by the Woke Mob

Brendan Heard is an author, op-ed writer, painter, blogger, and designer who has worked in international media.

New York’s educational program for talented children is under threat, as it is said to promote racial segregation. But ending it will simply mean that gifted pupils, whatever their background, are discriminated against.

Irrational woke activism is working hard to dismantle the American education system. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has unveiled a plan to phase out the ‘Gifted and Talented Program’, effectively denying talented poor kids a special curriculum and opportunities for advancement. The ‘reasoning’ behind this is that the program is a ‘glaring symbol of segregation’ in NYC public schools, due to the perception that the gifted students are disproportionately white and Asian.

While 70 percent of all students are black or Latino, about 75 percent of the gifted class students are white or Asian. However, the language associated with de Blasio’s new plan sounds angry and misleading. The suggestion is that the gifted program has contributed to “racially segregated” classrooms.

This sounds quite accusatory, with the amazing concocted association with ‘segregation’ suggesting it is nothing at all to do with objective academic tests, which are a colour-blind merit-based competitive system. Entry to the program is via an exam, with no other prejudicial factors.

This is yet another example of a frenzied neo-liberal hysteria, a rallying of henpecking busybodies wishing to blot out reality itself. Any truth they come across which they deem to be ‘not nice’ must be made an un-truth.

This is the unspoken credo of our new hard-left activism, which has nothing in particular to do with communism or socialism or anarchism, or even capitalism, but is something we might call ‘authoritarian neo-liberalism’. It is a unique and deeply irrational quasi-religious worldview which can do nothing but tear apart existing functional structures.

It has no creative or working power of its own, but is comprised of a rallying of pointless complaining by attention-seekers hooked on the thrill of discovering an ‘oppression grievance’. It does not matter how trivial or false the grievance is, the point is the do-gooder’s rush they get.

Special education for the talented is a concept as old as civilization. Plato wrote about providing specialized education for gifted young men and women, and throughout the Renaissance – a time specifically known for its special contributions to history – government and private patronage was provided for students who exhibited outstanding talent.

The truth is simply this: there are certain fields which are less subjective than others, and exam performance – by way of testing – at school is one of them. You can have subjective opinion in painting, or in music, but you are either good at math, or you are not.

As with anything truly merit-based, there must be that hard foundation in truth, and a measured limit where we might define, objectively, the exceptional from the average. It is a working system. To whine about it – or worse, to toss it all away – out of crocodile tears for the average-performing does not ultimately do anybody any good, neither the exceptional nor the average.

The group disparity in gifted programs is what it is, and applying any attempts to ‘equalize’ results will amount to actual discrimination against the gifted, who are often smart kids from less-than-privileged backgrounds. We give them these opportunities in order that we all might benefit from their future brilliance. Believe it or not, there was a time when Western society sought to nurture and encourage its best and brightest, and not out of ‘meanness’ for those who couldn’t make the cut – as there is a place for everyone – but out of giving a chance to those with best potential to benefit the human condition.

We might presume this new plan, which if implemented is likely to see imitation (blossoming outwards from neo-liberal centres like New York and California), will result in a gradual loss of potential: a brain drain, a failure to nourish aptitude which leaks into leadership and mass culture. In a nutshell, increased incompetency.

Minor committees on the advisory school board have already refused to renew the program, which is slated to be replaced by a misguided ‘expanded learning’ initiative for all students. This will be a massively expensive undertaking which, like all such emotion-driven or egalitarian schemes, will likely fail to achieve much.

Mayor de Blasio had been criticized in the past for not tackling so-called ‘inequality’ in public schools. Obviously, this very concept is nonsense, a kind of bizarre social voodoo where everyone and everything is expected to be magically ‘equal’ – which would suggest identical to the point of being interchangeable. It is a childishly ill-conceived approach to education, or anything else.

There are at least five schools across the city which currently still cater exclusively to gifted children, who have no clear idea what this initiative will mean. De Blasio, rather typically for an authoritarian neo-liberal, has not solicited feedback from parents, parent groups, or officials over his plans to scrap the gifted classes.

However, he did receive pushback on an earlier attempt to eliminate the admission exam for the most elite high schools. This plan failed because of the enormous backlash from Asian American parents, whose children would be among the most affected. We must assume that this only succeeded because the objecting parents were Asian, as the concerns of the white parents involved are likely not considered admissible criteria by Mr. de Blasio. That is the dark, unspoken heart of neo-liberalism.

What will be the result of dismantling special programs to avoid hurt feelings? Over time, a forced egalitarianism will destroy excellence, and a great ‘equalising’ will ensure no one surpasses a certain level.

78% of Covid-19 Deaths among Vaccinated

via Europe Reloaded

DAILY EXPOSE

The public have been repeatedly told that the Covid-19 vaccines are “100% safe and effective” because they have been through the same rigorous testing every other approved vaccine has been through, despite the fact it took less than a year to allegedly formulate a vaccine, test it, and “get it into the arms” of the general public.Today we can confirm that you have been lied to, the Covid-19 vaccines have not been through the same rigorous testing as other vaccines, and they are neither safe or effective, and we can prove this via a wealth of available official government data..Public Health England have now been replaced by a new organisation, dreamt up by ex-Health Secretary, Matt Hancock. The new organisation is now known as the ‘UK Health Security Agency’. That’s a slightly sinister and extremely concerning name isn’t it?The new UK Health Security Agency released a report on Thursday September 30th entitled ‘Vaccine Surveillance Report – Week 39‘, and within it they have published the number of alleged Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations, and deaths from week 35 to week 38 of 2021, by vaccination status.Table 2 of the report reveals that between August 30th 2021, and September 26th 2021 there were a total of 699,489 positive test results for the Covid-19 virus recorded in England. Of these, 316,002 cases were among the not vaccinated population, 53,070 were among the partly vaccinated population, and 273,540 were among the fully vaccinated population.

Source – Page 14

This means that the unvaccinated accounted for 45% of Covid-19 cases throughout September, whereas people who had received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine accounted for 47% of Covid-19 cases throughout September.

This is extremely concerning when you take into account that 240,077 of the Covid-19 cases in the unvaccinated population were in children under the age of 18. Children are being tested regularly in schools despite the fact they rarely even suffer a temperature due to the alleged virus.

If we remove confirmed cases of Covid-19 in children under 18 from the equation all together, then we are left with a very different set of results that tell an entirely different story.

Confirmed cases among all unvaccinated adults over the age of 18 between August 30th and September 26th equate to 75,925. Whilst confirmed cases among all adults who had received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine equate to 313,292. Therefore unvaccinated adults account for just 18% of cases in September, whilst vaccinated adults account for 74% of cases in September.

The data published by the UK Health Security Agency on cases also shows that the Covid-19 vaccine actually has a negative effectiveness as high as -66% in all adults over the age of 40, with the average efficacy equating to -50%. This is far from the 95% effectiveness claimed by the vaccine manufacturers, and the data actually shows that adults are up to 66% more likely to develop Covid-19 if they have been vaccinated.

We covered the negative efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccines in detail in an article published October 1st 2021 which can be viewed here. But these are the results of the effectiveness of the vaccines by age groups based on the equation used by vaccine manufacturers to claim an effectiveness of 95% –

Source

Table 3 of the report published by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows the number of people admitted to hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 from August 30th to September 26th 2021, by vaccination status, and the table tells a similar story to that of cases, except the figures are actually worse for those who have been vaccinated.

The number of unvaccinated people admitted to hospital with Covid-19 during this time was 2,922. The number of partly vaccinated people admitted to hospital was 356, and the number of fully vaccinated people admitted to hospital was 4,378.

Source – Page 15

This means that during September 2021 the unvaccinated accounted for just 38% of hospitalisations due to Covid-19, whilst the vaccinated accounted for 62%.

Table 4 of the report published by UKHSA shows the number of deaths to have occurred between August 30th and September 26th within 28 days of a positive test result for Covid-19, by vaccination status, and again, things are worse among the fully vaccinated.

There were 687 deaths among the unvaccinated, 110 deaths among the partly vaccinated, and 2,338 deaths among the fully vaccinated.

Source – Page 16

This means that the unvaccinated account for just 22% of Covid-19 deaths during September 2021, whilst the vaccinated account for a disastrous 78%.

There are of course those that will argue that this is to be expected when the majority of the adult population are allegedly vaccinated. However, this argument falls down when we compare the number of deaths that are occurring compared to the same time last year when not a single person was vaccinated because there wasn’t a Covid-19 vaccine available.

If the vaccines were working, then yes, we would probably still see Covid-19 deaths among the vaccinated, but not in the quantity that is occurring now.

As you can see from the above graph, Covid-19 deaths are approximately eleven times higher than this time last year, despite having a mass vaccination programme, and seasonality being on our side. If the vaccines were working, then these are possibly the number of Covid-19 deaths you would expect to see in the middle of winter, not the middle of summer. But autumn has now arrived, so we don’t have long to wait to see how disastrous the vaccination programme turns out to be.

It isn’t just the data on Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations, and deaths that prove the Covid-19 vaccines are far from safe and effective though. There are some extremely concerning signs that they are not safe in further data published September 27th by Public Health England in their ‘Nation Ambulance Syndromic Surveillance System‘ report.

We expect this will be the last report published published by Public Health England and all future reports to be published by the UK Health Security Agency. The report contains statistics on the number of calls requesting an ambulance, and the symptoms that the calls relate to.

The latest report shows that calls relating to cardiac or respiratory arrest are above both the expected average and above pre-Covid-19 levels, and they have been ever since June 2021.

Source

As you can see in the above graph, calls for cardiac and respiratory arrest suddenly crept above the expected level around the beginning of June, before sky rocketing in the middle of July, and have yet to fall to the expected pre-Covid-19 level since then.

A similar pattern also occurred in call requesting an ambulance due to a person being unconscious.

Source

The question is, what caused the sudden jump in calls requesting an ambulance due to cardiac arrest or unconsciousness?

It is now known that younger adults, teenagers, and children (especially males) are much more likely to suffer myocarditis due to the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 injections. Both jabs have had warnings added to the safety labels by the UK Medicine Regulator due to a suspicion they are causing myocarditis and pericarditis in younger adults, mainly men, after they have had the second dose.

Myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle, whereas pericarditis is inflammation of the protective sacs surrounding the heart. Both are extremely serious conditions due to the vital role the heart plays in keeping a person alive, and the fact that the heart muscle cannot regenerate. Serious myocarditis can lead to cardiac arrest and knock years off a person’s life.

So it is interesting to find that the Covid-19 vaccine began to be rolled-out to younger adults around the end of May, and then to under 18’s at the end of June, correlating with the increase in calls requesting an ambulance due to cardiac arrest and unconsciousness.

Official NHS data found in the ‘Covid-19 weekly announced vaccinations 01 July 2021 – revised’ which can be downloaded here, and accessed on the NHS website here, shows that between 8th December 2020 and 27th June 2021, 147,123 people under the age of 18 had received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine

We can confirm that all documents published by the NHS preceding this do not include an under 18 age group, so we can therefore assume that the week of 20th June – 27th June was the first week that thousands of under 18’s started getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

But we also discovered something else extremely concerning that correlated with the jab roll-out to teenagers, and an increase in calls requesting an ambulance due to cardiac arrest. Courtesy of Office for National Statistics data, we discovered a significant increase in the number of deaths among teenagers compared to the same time last year.

Chart showing deaths among Teens aged 15-19, 2020 vs 2021

The 2020 edition of ‘Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales’, which can be downloaded here, and accessed on the ONS website here, shows that between the week ending26th June and the week ending 18th September 2020, a total of 148 deaths occurred among 15 – 19-year-olds.

Source

Whereas the 2021 editions of ‘Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, which can be downloaded here, and accessed on the ONS website here, shows that between the week ending 25th June 2021 and the week ending 17th September 2021, a total of 217 deaths occurred among 15 – 19-year-olds.

Source

This shows that the number of deaths between June 19th 2021 and September 17th 2021 among teens aged 15 and over were 47% higher than the number of deaths in this age group during the same period in 2020, and the increase in deaths began at precisely the same time teens started receiving the Covid-19 vaccine, and also correlated with the huge increase in callsrequesting an ambulance due to cardiac arrest.

To summarise, UK Health Security Agency data shows that the vaccinated account for 47% of Covid-19 cases, 62% of hospitalisations, and 78% of Covid-19 deaths in September. The same data also shows that the vaccines actually have a negative effectiveness as low as -66% in the over 40’s.

Official data also shows that Covid-19 deaths during September were approximately eleven times higher than the number of Covid-19 deaths that occurred in September 2020 when there wasn’t a Covid-19 vaccine available.

Public Health England data shows that calls for cardiac arrest have increased against expected levels ever since younger adults started to get the Covid-19 vaccine; and jumped dramatically once teens started to have the jab (the majority of which will have been 19 and 18 years old).

ONS data also shows that deaths among teenagers have increased by 47% compared to the same period in 2020, ever since they started to get the Covid-19 vaccines.

Yet the authorities repeatedly tell the public that the Covid-19 vaccines are “100% safe and effective”. They are lying to you. But the problem we now face is that they are using that lie to come for your children.

German State of Hesse, First to Allow Businesses to Deny the Unvaxxed Access to Basic Necessities

via RT

The German state of Hesse has become the first to allow businesses to deny the unvaccinated access even to basic necessities, setting a troubling precedent as its neighbors wrestle with protests against vaccination mandates.

Hessian supermarkets have been granted permission to deny the unvaccinated the right to buy food and other essentials, the state chancellery confirmed to German magazine BILD on Friday. Under the new policy, stores can decide whether to implement the so-called “2G rule,” which means allowing entry only to the vaccinated and recovered – “geimpft” and “genesen” in German, respectively – or the more lax “3G rule” encompassing those who’ve tested negative for the virus (known locally as “getestet”).

Minister-President Volker Bouffier somewhat bafflingly told BILD he hoped the new rule wouldn’t be widely implemented, explaining: “We expect that this option will only be used on some days and that businesses which cater to everyday needs will not make use of it.”

“The greatest protection is provided by vaccination. And still it is uncomplicated, unbureaucratic and free to get,” he boasted, noting that masking and social distancing requirements would remain in place for businesses that failed to adopt the more exclusionary 2G Rule. In exchange for admitting only vaccinated or recovered people, 2G businesses are allowed to forgo social distancing and mask mandates – perhaps a tempting tradeoff after 18 months of burdensome face coverings.

In addition to the new 2G option, hospital staff who remain unvaccinated must be tested for Covid-19 twice a week, and students are still required to mask up while seated in class.

While at least eight other German states have opened up the 2G option for certain businesses like bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas and brothels, Hesse is the first to allow the rule at grocery stores and other retail shops.

Though other European nations like Italy and France have implemented strict vaccine requirements forbidding the unvaxxed from working (Italy) or eating at cafes (France), most leaders have stopped short of directly mandating jabs for their citizens. However, concerns about vaccine passports have sent hundreds of thousands of people into the streets to protest, even while countries like the US begin to reopen for travel – to the vaccinated only, of course.

Australia Building Permanent Covid-19 Quarantine Camps for “Ongoing Operations”

BY CAPTAINDARETOFLY via The Expose

Despite the Covid-19 “pandemic” being pretty much over, at least for the unvaccinated, Australia is busy constructing new “quarantine” camps, which the government states will be needed next year to house people “who have not had access to vaccination.”

To maintain “ongoing operations” for the “pandemic”, Australian officials are funding the construction of massive compounds, one of which reportedly has 1,000 beds and is expected to be completed by the end of March 2022.

“At this stage, the cabins will be used by domestic travellers returning from COVID hotspots,” a report about the quarantine facility being erected at the Wellcamp Airport outside of Toowoomba states.

The facility will reportedly employ many locals, which the government says will help boost the economy. Clearly, this is how they are marketing the project to lessen suspicions about it.

According to reports, the camp is being split into different zones and will accommodate single, double, and family rooms while being patrolled by police and guards 24/7.

The prison camp will supposedly be used to help “flatten the curve” and keep Australians “safe” against future coronavirus “variants” that are expected to emerge as long as the elites want them to emerge.

A group called ‘Parents are Immediate Family’ tweeted about the camps, exclaiming: “This is crazy! Who will be made to stay in these prison camps?!”

Queensland Premier Steven Miles recently told the media that he anticipates a “continuing need for quarantine facilities” well into the future, hence the need to construct these compounds quickly.

The government is leasing the land on which the Wellcamp facility is being built. There is an initial 12-month term that can be extended for another 12 months after that if the government chooses.

Similarly, there is another 1,000-bed quarantine facility being constructed on a 30-hectacre Army barracks site in the industrial area of Pinkenba, near Brisbane Airport.

Whilst Australians continue to suffer under tyranny, don’t think that these same camps aren’t set to crop up in other countries around the world. The United States is setting up similar “quarantine facilities” for Americans who are deemed to be “unable to quarantine at home.”

Furthermore, Canada and New Zealand are reportedly setting up camps, with Canada being perhaps the most honest about its true intentions. Officials in Quebec City stated that “uncooperative” citizens will be isolated in Canada’s “quarantine” facility, the location of which remains unknown.

Germany also announced that it plans to hold vaccine-refusers captive in a “detention camp” located near Dresden.

Combined China-Russia Military Might Is Not Enough To Match U.S.: RAND Corp.

This is the basis of all of American hubris. The Covid BioWar, the financial sanctions against sovereign countries, the invasions of other countries, the kidnapping of foreign nationals, the stealing of other countries’ resources and treasuries, the posting of over 1,000 bases on foreign soil, you name it. This is the “science” that illuminates the octogenarian and nonagenarian sages of the Empire of Cancer.

Read what Rand Corp. peddles to the minds of policy makers in the US. It is like seeing it and not believing it. Really? They write that the US can overpower the combined military might of the Russian and the Chinese nations? – but wait a minute the US could not defeat the little 5 million Syria, never mind.

The RAND Corporation released a report claiming that Combined Russian and Chinese military power will approach, but not exceed, the US.

The report’s authors describe the growing relationship between Beijing and Moscow as one of pragmatism and based on “balancing” against “U.S. hard and soft power.” Additionally, China and Russia share a desire to counter a perceived U.S. ideology “of militarism, interventionism and the forcible imposition of U.S. values on other countries.”

The relationship between China and Russia has gradually developed and grown closer over two decades, according to the report. When Bejing and Moscow launched their first joint “field exercise” in 2003, it signaled that the two countries had moved from a relationship based on “calculation” to one of “cooperation.”

Between 2012-2017 China and Russia strengthened their relationship from “cooperation” to “collaboration” in large part due to “Western sanctions.” In particular, following sanctions placed on Russia in 2014 due to the annexation of Crimea, Moscow pursued “much closer ties” to Beijing.

Authors of the report suggest that one way to dial back the relationship between the U.S.’ two chief global competitors would be to reduce Western sanctions on the two nations. If done, “Russia might seek stronger relations with Europe and the United States,” which could cause the Sino-Russian relationship to “weaken or decline.”

Rand then concludes that these changes will likely not happen, and finally, the authors of the report state that, in particular, the military relationship between Moscow and Beijing will continue to develop, presenting an ever-increasing challenge to the U.S. on the global stage.

“With little, outside a significant policy shift, that the U.S. government can do to disrupt China and Russia’s growing relationship, the report’s authors suggested that the U.S. military prepare for greater cooperation between Beijing and Moscow.

“The U.S. military can prepare for the results of greater Sino-Russian cooperation, including by expecting further diffusion of Chinese and Russian military equipment, additional joint planning and exercises, potential joint basing, and eventually the possibility of joint military operations,” the report concludes.”

Dr. McCullough: Winning The War Against Therapeutic Nihilism

Chicago Art Museum Fires Unpaid Volunteers For Being White

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

A prestigious art museum in Chicago fired hundreds of unpaid volunteers and replaced them with paid workers because they were too white.

Yes, really.

The Art Institute of Chicago had been able to depend on the help of 122 highly skilled volunteers, mostly older white women, to act as guides to the Museum’s collection of 300,000 works, which they explain in great detail to visitors.

The volunteers also acted as “school group greeters” to help children understand the importance of what they were seeing.

Training requirements for the position were intense, and the volunteers were apparently doing a great job.

But now they’ve now all been dismissed for not being “diverse” enough.

“Many of the volunteers—though not all—are older white women, who have the time and resources to devote so much free labor to the Museum,” reports the Why Evolution is True blog.

But the demographics of that group weren’t appealing to the AIC, and so, in late September, the AIC fired all of them, saying they’d be replaced by smaller number of hired volunteers workers who will be paid $25 an hour. That group will surely meet the envisioned diversity goals.”

“Paying the replacements will not result in more knowledgeable docents. But they won’t be Caucasian; that’s the important thing,” writes Dave Blount.

Unfortunately for the volunteers, a lack of “diversity” is only apparently a problem at one end of the spectrum.

A similar thing happened last month when the English Touring Opera (ETO) kicked out half of its orchestral players in an effort to prioritize “increased diversity in the orchestra.”

The act of musical ethnic cleansing was carried out in the interests of following “firm guidance of the Arts Council,” which is a government-funded body.

Once again, this all underscores the fact that the only form of institutionalized racism that remains not only acceptable, but something to be encouraged, is against white people.

The Withdrawal of US Forces from Iraq and Syria

by Thierry Meyssan via Voltairenet

The agreements reached between Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin following the Western military defeat in Syria are beginning to be implemented in the Middle East. The next steps should be the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and Syria, the expulsion of Turkish forces from northwestern Syria, the return of Iran to the concert of nations, the return of the Golan Heights and finally the Russian-Syrian administration of Lebanon.

President Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin, winners of the Western war against Syria.

This article is a follow-up to
Why a Yalta II?“, June 15, 2021.
Biden-Putin, a Yalta II rather than a new Berlin“, June 22, 2021.
The political architecture of the new Middle East“, September 7, 2021.

The consequences of the Geneva Accords – known as “Yalta 2” (June 16, 2021) – for the wider Middle East are about to reach a new stage: foreign forces occupying parts of Syria are about to withdraw. After 12 years of massacres, the war against the Syrian Arab Republic is ending.

President Bashar al-Assad went to the Kremlin. Nothing transpired from his meeting with his Russian counterpart. However, it seems that Moscow will supervise both Syria and Lebanon from the Lebanese parliamentary elections in May 2022. If Washington does not keep its word, Syria could be admitted to the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), the military alliance around Russia. In such a case, Moscow’s support for Damascus would increase considerably as Syria would move from being a friend to an ally. Any attack on its security would be an attack on Russia’s.

Naftali Benett and Yair Lapid try to normalise their country

ISRAEL

In recent weeks, the “rebels” of Deraa (in the south of the country) have laid down their arms. They had already done so with a Russian general, then mobilised again against Damascus at the request of Saudi Arabia. They finally surrendered after Israel withdrew its military support.

This is an important event that marks the evolution of the Tel Aviv regime. Since the resignation of Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel is freeing itself from the colonial ideology of Ze’ev Jabotinsky and trying to become a state like any other. The government of Naftali Bennett (despite its rhetoric) and Yair Lapid has agreed to stop supporting armed groups in Syria. However, this does not prevent it from continuing its secret war against Iran on Lebanese and Syrian territory. Especially if Tel Aviv accepts many concessions, it stands firm on the occupation of the Golan Heights, which it has illegally annexed under the UN.

Commenting on President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Russia Today in an interview in Arabic that Russia intends to free all of Syria from all foreign forces illegally stationed there: the Israeli, Turkish and US. The Golan Heights are being returned in exchange for an Iranian withdrawal from Syria.

Jordan, which has never committed itself against Syria but has let the US and Saudi Arabia use its territory to fight Damascus, seems relieved.

The rebels in Deraa, anticipating what would happen next, refused to leave for Idleb (in the north of the country). They preferred to lay down their arms without any compensation.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan cannot leave Idleb without renouncing the fulfilment of the 1920 national oath.

TURKEY

The next step must be the withdrawal of US and Turkish troops from the north of the country, the surrender of Kurdish mercenaries and the flight of the jihadists amassed in Idleb. This is where the problem lies: Turkey refuses to leave. For it, Idleb is an area that it has claimed since the “National Oath” of 1920 [1]. Ankara had welcomed the occupation as a step towards restoring Ottoman grandeur. Its withdrawal would mean not only the loss of this territory, but the failure of its neo-Ottoman dream.

This is why President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his speech at the 76th UN General Assembly, reawakened the threat of his support for Tatar terrorism. In 2015, Turkey and Ukraine had officially created an International Islamic Brigade against the attachment of Crimea to Russia [2]. Three months later, the Turkish army shot down a Russian Sukhoi, causing a serious political crisis. But this episode was short-lived. The anti-Russian terrorist option was abandoned in 2016 and President Erdoğan apologised for the “incident”.

Disrupting the chessboard, the CIA attempted to have President Erdoğan assassinated. The operation failed and turned into an improvised coup, which also failed. To everyone’s surprise, Ankara then turned to Moscow and signed deal after deal for the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and finally for the purchase of S-400 anti-missile systems.

Today Ankara finds itself in a difficult position as it stands against Moscow and Washington at the same time. Its threat to reactivate Tatar terrorism is credible insofar as Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, before becoming president, was an important actor in the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya. He gave the support of the Millî Görüş to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in Afghanistan, and then offered a rear base to the terrorists of Dokou Oumarov for their Emirate of Itchkeria (Chechnya).

It is obviously unlikely that Russia will give in to Turkish blackmail this time, since it did not do so in 2015. Moscow is not Brussels, which cowardly paid $5 billion during the migrant blackmail. In any case, even if the Turkish threat does not have to go through, stating it raises the stakes. President Erdoğan does not intend to give in without strong compensation.

The withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and Syria will leave the Kurdish mercenaries unprotected just as the withdrawal of US armies from Afghanistan left the local CIA collaborators to their fate. Given the crimes they have committed, especially against Christian Arabs, a panic is beginning to set in. Some of them are already in negotiations with Damascus.

The secret meeting of the US and Russian chiefs of staff, Generals Mark A. Milley and Valery Gerasimov, on September 21 in Helsinki, dealt with the Syrian issue. It is not known what the two men decided, but General Miley is a strong supporter of Joe Biden and would not sabotage his commitments.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Ebrahim Raissi do not see an Iran led by secularists.

IRAN

Iran, which has established itself as an economic power under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and as a military power under General Qassem Soleimani, is about to be integrated into the concert of nations.

While official negotiations on its nuclear status have stalled, secret contacts are increasing.

The US has now agreed to put Iranian nuclear research into perspective as long as it is peaceful. In the last year of the war imposed by Iraq on Ruhollah Khomeini’s Iran, Tehran forbade itself to build the atomic bomb, a project that the US and France had developed with Shah Reza Pahlevi. Iran only lifted this ban after President Donald Trump assassinated General Qassem Soleimani. There is no indication that Tehran has since resumed this project.

The fact that Washington and London have revealed their nuclear pact with Australia means that these two major powers can no longer accuse Iran of proliferation.

The US has also given up on dividing the Muslim world into Sunni and Shia. Solid contacts are being established between the brotherly enemies that Saudi Arabia and Iran had become. The latest was a secret meeting between the heads of the two countries’ secret services on September 23 at Baghdad airport.

Tehran should give up some of its military actions and concentrate on the defence of Shiite communities in the world (including Latin America). The Revolutionary Guards could therefore leave Syria and give more room to the Lebanese Hezbollah.

The EU bureaucracy continues to employ British officials more than a year after Brexit.

THE EUROPEAN UNION

On the diplomatic front, the embassies of EU member states in Damascus have almost all reopened (but not the French one). It seems that the EU has financial obligations imposed by an old UN resolution. In any case, Brussels is providing $7 billion to rebuild Syria’s infrastructure. Strangely, the European Commission, which continues to employ 6,000 British civil servants more than a year after the Brexit, is represented in Syria by the British NGO Oxfam (which had supported the White Helmets terrorist group). In any case, the EU officially remains on the position stated by US ambassador Jeffrey Feltman when he headed the UN four years ago: not a penny for the reconstruction of Syria until the “regime” has fallen [3].

The question that remains open is whether or not Lebanon will return to Russian-Syrian administration. The answer will determine Chinese involvement in the region.

For the moment, the three Lebanese presidents (of the Republic, the Government and the Parliament) are compatible with the administration of President Bashar al-Assad. However, President Bashar al-Assad, who was unjustly accused of having instigated the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and whose troops were booed in Beirut, does not seem to want to play this role. This would be the wisest solution.

The announcement of a possible candidacy for the presidency of the Lebanese Parliament of the Director of General Security, General Abbas Ibrahim, is interpreted as the entry into the race of a man aware of the culture of Greater Syria. Until the Sykes-Picot-Sazonov agreements of 1915, which planned the creation of Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus, these five states formed the same Ottoman province.

CHINA

In the event of a Syrian trusteeship over failed Lebanon, China would step in to rebuild the end of the ancient Silk Road. In ancient and early medieval times, the Silk Road linked the then Chinese capital, Xi’an, to the Mediterranean via Palmyra and Damascus. Beijing plans to build both a land and rail route as well as telecommunications infrastructure. This would be a very important victory for Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping as part of the war on Syria was explicitly aimed at preventing this project.

It would be surprising if the US, which has forced Israel to cancel all its contracts with Beijing, were to let Russia install China in Syria without a quid pro quo.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and French President Emmanuel Macron.

FRANCE

France, once the colonial power of Lebanon and Syria, does not intend to be ousted. Last month, President Emmanuel Macron attended the Baghdad summit, under the watchful eye of the British secret service.

France and the United States played a central role in the appointment of Najib Mikati as the new strongman of the Lebanese Sunni community and consequently as the new Prime Minister (this function being reserved for a Sunni). The Westerners favoured the man who is now, according to Forbes, the richest man in the country, as Rafik Hariri had been. To achieve this, they eliminated the Hariri family with the help of Saudi Arabia. The assets of Saad Hariri (the son, who was also Prime Minister) were seized by court order. The operation should soon continue with the seizure of his assets in Lebanon. Najib Mikati, who is no more honest than he is, depends on Washington and Paris insofar as his fortune is dispersed in states under Western tutelage. He is as much a symbol as the Hariri’s of the use of Lebanon as a pirate state in the Western economic system. It does not subscribe to any of the Western rules, but is used for all the West’s secret transactions, especially drugs and telecommunications. In this respect, Lebanon is comparable to Israel, although the self-proclaimed “Jewish state” specialises in secret diamond and arms deals (including software). In both cases, the profits of the rulers do not benefit the population.

France’s support for Najib Mikati is aimed at preventing Lebanon from becoming a real nation and no longer an aggregate of communities. Paris will therefore do its utmost to ensure that the next parliament is elected according to the iniquitous rules that have prevailed until now. Lebanon is the only country in the world where the majority of parliamentarians are elected from father to son. To ensure that a democratic rule is not adopted, France intends to deploy its troops and secure the polling stations during the May 2022 elections. Denying the origin of the problems, it prioritises economic over political reforms.

President Macron hosted Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on September 24. As soon as he was appointed, the latter rushed to the Élysée Palace, breaking the sacrosanct rule according to which a new Lebanese Prime Minister should not visit the former colonial power without having first met his main Arab counterparts.

Only once the political landscape is stabilised can the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Israel, Lebanon and Syria begin. It is necessary to delimit the maritime borders that were vaguely drawn by the Sykes-Picot agreements, but never precisely fixed.

The Manufacturing of The Very Great Depression Gets the Green Light

Excerpts

1. The truth is starting to come out, and a lot of people aren’t going to like it. When the supply chain problems and the shortages began, government officials repeatedly assured us that they would just be temporary, and most of us believed them. But now it has become clear that they aren’t going to be temporary at all. In fact, during a recent interview with Bloomberg, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg admitted that some of the supply chain problems that we are currently facing could last for “years and years”. I don’t know about you, but to me “years and years” sounds like a really long time.

Of course that is not the only time that Buttigieg has made such a claim. During another recent interview, he used the words “long term” to describe what we are facing…

Buttigieg has said in recent interviews that “it’s an incredibly complicated situation,” but the government is holding virtual “roundtables” with port operators, labor unions and private companies. Nevertheless, he told MSNBC last Thursday, the “challenges” will continue, not only “going into the next year or two, but going into the long term.”

Isn’t it remarkable how the outlook for our economic future has changed so dramatically in just a matter of a few months?

Earlier this year, we were told that we would soon be entering a new golden era of prosperity.

But now inflation and shortages are causing chaos everywhere we look.

2. More than 60 cargo ships are waiting to dock in California, carrying hundreds of thousands of containers, and may be stuck for months in a traffic jam after arriving from China and Asia. Millions of dollars of American goods are still sitting in warehouses in China, awaiting shipment.

In addition to the unprecedented backlogs that we are witnessing at our major ports, it has also become far, far more expensive to send products across the Pacific Ocean.

Just check out these numbers

The Washington Post reported the median cost of shipping a standard container from China to the U.S. West Coast hit a record $20,586. That’s nearly twice what it cost in July, which was twice what it cost in January, according to the Freightos index.

“Consumers are confronting higher prices and shortages of cars, children’s shoes and exercise gear, as the holiday shopping season looms,” the Post said.

That is crazy.

3. And now the emerging global energy crisis is going to make it even more expensive to move stuff around the planet. On Monday, the price of gasoline in the United States hit a new seven-year high

The national average price for gasoline hit a fresh seven-year high of $3.27 a gallon on Monday, up by 7 cents in the past week alone, according to AAA. Gas has nearly doubled since bottoming at $1.77 in April 2020.

High gas prices will only exacerbate elevated inflation, squeeze the budgets of American families and hurt President Joe Biden’s political fortunes.

4. In addition, we just learned that U.S. stockpiles of heating oil have hit a 20 year low

The U.S. may be heading into winter with the lowest stockpiles of heating oil to meet surging demand in more than two decades.

Inventories of distillates — used as diesel for both transportation and heating oil — are enough to meet 31.2 days of demand, according to the Energy Information Administration. That’s the tightest it has been for this time of the year since 2000.

Unfortunately, global energy supplies are going to get even tighter and prices are going to go even higher in the months ahead.

5. We are entering a period of inflation that is going to absolutely shock most people.

In fact, the UN says that the global price of food has already risen more than 32 percent over the past year…

The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s September food price index – a measure of monthly changes in global food prices – reached 130 points, a level not seen since 2011.

It represents a 32.8 percent increase from September 2020.

Things are starting to move quite rapidly now, and we are being warned that conditions are going to continue to deteriorate in the months ahead.

And as conditions deteriorate, the American people are going to becoming increasingly restless. Already, polls are showing that Americans are quite dissatisfied with the current state of affairs. Here is one example

Just 37% of Americans rate the economy as very or fairly good – the lowest percentage since March, and for the second straight month, more than half feel the economy is in bad shape. And most Americans are not convinced that the Biden administration’s domestic agenda would improve the economy.

Treatment to Calm Cytokines Storm: Life-Saving Russian Discovery

via RT

A group of Russian scientists have created a drug that may potentially revolutionize the treatment of Covid-19 by defusing the most catastrophic reaction the disease causes in patients, while not destroying their immune response.

The drug, called Leitragin, was developed by the Biomedical Technology Research Center of the Russian Federal Medical and Biology Agency (FMBA), and is currently undergoing clinical trials in Russia. Although its base substance was previously known and used in ulcer treatment medicine by Soviet and Russian doctors, it was the FMBA team that discovered how to apply it for the treatment of severe cases of Covid-19 and, potentially, other deadly diseases that cause life-threatening lung inflammation.

The Russian scientists had tasked themselves with finding a substance that would act as an ‘off switch’ for the chain reaction that, after being triggered by the invading SARS-CoV-2 virus, actually causes potential organ failure and death. This reaction of the immune system, dubbed the “cytokine storm,” has been variously described as our body’s overreaction to the virus or a “suicide attack” against the invading pathogen, and even as an evolutionary mechanism to stop the spread of deadly infections with the death of the host.

Trying to stop this uncontrolled immune response while still preserving the body’s ability to fight the virus without causing more damage is what scientists and medics in intensive care units across the world have been wrestling with during the Covid-19 pandemic. In that regard, Leitragin is being touted as a game-changer, since its novel mechanism acts in a targeted way, and is said to be completely safe for one’s health.

RT interviewed the head of the Russian team of scientists behind Leitragin, and talked to an independent researcher studying cytokine storms, to learn more about the potential of the novel drug.

In search of the deadly trigger

A cytokine storm, also known as hypercytokinemia, is triggered by tiny messenger proteins called cytokines, which are normally our body’s trusted agents in dealing with infections, inflammations and trauma. However, when dealing with some dangerous pathogens such as H1N1, H5N1, the Ebola virus, and SARS-CoV-2, the immune system may decide it’s being overwhelmed by the virus and “go mad.”This can result in massive inflammation and, potentially, septic shock and death, Maxim Skulachev, a leading research associate at the Moscow State University’s (MSU) Physicochemical Biology Research Institute, told RT.

Up until now, a cytokine storm was believed to be caused by an uncontrollable release of dozens of different cytokine types, making it difficult to contain. However, scientists at the FMBA Biomedical Technology Research Center say they might just have got to the very bottom of the issue and pinpointed a single key culprit.

The group, led by the head of the center, Vladislav Karkischenko, published the results of their drug’s pre-clinical trials on mice in the Journal of Immunology Research in late September.

At first, the Russian scientists spent months figuring out their Covid-19 infection model – according to Skulachev, the rodents’ response to the disease doesn’t quite match that of humans even in so-called “humanized” mice. Then, they went through a process of drug screening, and identified a substance defusing what they believe is one particular cytokine triggering the storm.

The cytokine in question is called high mobility group box 1 protein, or HMGB1, Karkischenko told RT. Released en masse by the immune cells during severe Covid-19 cases, it triggers the release of numerous other cytokines, turning it into an “uncontrollable process.”

Previous research hasn’t considered HMGB1 as the “main cytokine,” but it’s so ubiquitous, its numbers could be a thousand times higher during the infection, Karkischenko said, which points to it being responsible for the “final cascade of reactions.”

We believe this late-phase cytokine [HMGB1] is the chief inflammation agent during the [infection with] SARS-CoV-2

The FMBA scientists are not alone in their assumptions. The HMGB1 protein has already drawn the attention of researchers around the world, and was named as a potential therapeutic target in treating Covid-19.

Commending the “enormous amount of work” done at the FMBA, MSU’s Skulachev says that a team at his institute has achieved similar results during their own research into cytokine storms. Moreover, he believes the two teams may have independently discovered a universal “evolutionary suicide mechanism” that kills an organism to prevent the spread of severe infections.

“We cannot live without the immune system. If a person has been suffering from a severe viral infection, one has to be meticulous in choosing a moment for administering the drug. Do it a few hours too early and a virus would kill a person through self-replication,” he said.

In their search for a solution, the FMBA researchers tried an opioid hexapeptide called [D-Ala2]-dynorphin 1-6, and the results turned out to be surprisingly promising. Mortality rates among mice with chemically induced conditions similar to cytokine storms in humans fell by four times, Karkishenko said. Noting that Western scientists seem to be focused on opioids as components of painkiller drugs, he adds that these substances are much more multi-faceted, and can also be harmless.

“In our article, we were able to prove that opioid receptors trigger processes with a massive anti-inflammatory effect while causing no damage to a person,” Karkischenko said.

In June, Leitragin was registered by the Russian health authorities as part of an emergency procedure. At that time, the FMBA said that it was already tested on some 300 volunteers and showed very positive results since none of the patients, who were administered Leitragin, were admitted to intensive care units or died. They also tended to recover several days earlier than those who received “standard” treatment, Karkischenko said. Leitragin has initially been intended for testing on Covid patients with moderate severity of the disease, but some doctors have taken it upon themselves to treat critical patients, he added.

“This drug is designed to solve an unsolvable problem. These patients virtually have no other alternatives,” Skulachev explained, referring to severe cases of Covid.

‘Major development’

Despite what Karkischenko says are promising results, the scientists behind Leitragin still have to prove its effectiveness in clinical studies. The center is now working on a large-scale publication that would involve clinical trial results and more information about the drug itself. Russia’s hospitals, meanwhile, are allowed to treat patients with Leitragin as part of a limited use authorization.

“This is an evolutionary mechanism we inherited from our ancestors,” Skulachev said, adding that the evolutionary trait hasn’t caught up with the fact that humanity has developed vaccines and medicines to deal with such diseases.

‘Solving unsolvable problem’

Currently, medics do not have many options in their fight against the cytokine storm. They have to either use monoclonal antibodies – highly expensive drugs capable of suppressing a single type of cytokine – or “kill” the immune system completely with steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. Both methods have serious drawbacks.

The FBMA center’s research showed that suppressing the oft-targeted cytokines might not always provide the required effect as the “storm” could continue raging after a brief respite, Karkishenko said. Skulachev, meanwhile, notes that using hormonal steroid drugs could be even more dangerous.

If proven effective and safe, though, the drug may be found to have uses far beyond Covid-19 treatment, since it’s designed to deal with the immune system’s reaction and not one specific virus.

“Leitragin is aimed at suppressing inflammation processes,” Karkischenko said, adding that “it is a drug based on an absolutely innovative approach” and can be used to treat “various conditions.” The FMBA center is already working on different drug formulations for Leitragin.

“Some 80% of all critical conditions [in patients] in intensive care units are linked to cytokine storm and potentially to this specific protein causing it,” Skulachev explained, noting that the “potential range of uses for this drug could be extremely wide.”

It could be a major development.
